Control session randomly disconnects when changing remote printer driver

By default when our users turn on remote printing, the Microsoft XPS driver is used by default on the loaded printers. When we go to change the driver to the correct one, it applies, but when the user goes to print, Control instantly disconnects the session. Upon reconnecting there is a error in the print queue.  In our line of work changing the margins/etc. is crucial and effecting multiple users including different models of printers. We tried loading the driver locally and adding new ( Have disk) but makes no difference. We are migrating from LMI which worked flawlessly in this department
