Custom session group not working with notes

info 12 months ago updated by Rishikesh Gajul (Product Manager) 2 months ago 2

When adding a new note to a machine the filter in custom session groups doesn't detect it. It does work with the old existing one. But not when adding a new note.

ConnectWise Control Version:
20.4
Server Affected:
Host Client Affected:
Guest Client Affected:

This issue has returned, this has broken the entire server for remote workforce. We use a Note on each computer with a session filter (Notes LIKE '*Username:' + $USERLOGINNAME + ',*'

We also use Azure AD via SAML.

No user can see their assigned machines anymore in their session group! Both for existing notes and newly assigned notes.

This was broken in some older version, it was working again all the way through 21.2.2159.7699.

21.3.2160.7699 has broken this completely again.

Hi J Chang,

We apologies for the inconvenience caused to you.  The session filter that includes the extra comma does work in older version of Control, but breaks in more recent versions. Please follow below steps to remove extra comma to fix the problem:

  1. Navigate to the Access tab
  2. Click the three dots next to the Assigned Machines, and click Edit
  3. Make sure the Session Filter is: Notes LIKE '*|UserName:' + $USERLOGINNAME + '*' (It should not be: Notes LIKE '*|UserName:' + $USERLOGINNAME + ',*')
  4. Click Save
