Cannot filter Session List with verbatim session name

Xestrix 4 years ago updated by Ben Burner 4 years ago 5

According to previous patch notes, I should be able to search for "Computer 1" and only get sessions named Computer 1, however, when I run a search in quotes, for "Computer 1", I'll get Computer 1 , Computer 11 , Computer 115 , etc in my results. Am I doing something wrong, or misinterpreting the patch notes?

Good afternoon,

The behavior you describe is expected based on how the improvement was implemented.

Suppose the following three sessions are listed in a particular session group:

Comp 1

Computer 1

Computer 11

If you search for Comp 1 without quotation marks, all three sessions will be returned by the query. On the other hand, if you search for "Comp 1" (quotes included), only the session Comp 1 will be returned by the query. In short, the string "Comp 1" is treated as a complete search segment.

Ben

In this scenario, searching for "Computer 1" (quotes included), is expected to return both Computer 1 and Computer 11?

In this scenario, a search for "Computer 1" is expected to return Computer 1, Computer 11, and any other sessions with a name that starts with the string Computer 1, for example, Computer 11 AB.

Thank you for the clarification. Is a true "verbatim" search something on the table? It sounds like the current implementation just removes "space" as a delimiter in the search.

+1

I don't believe there's anything in the works currently to implement search behavior as you initially described it, but please feel free to submit a new feature request or add your input to an existing feature request.

Ben
