Your computer is being controlled by sometimes does not work with 6.1

Erik van Putten 4 years ago updated by Ben Burner 3 years ago 9

Hi I can't fully put my finger on it yet, but some machines do not allways show the 'Your computer is controlled by' message.

This started to happen with version 6.1

We have the ShowSystemTrayIcon option turned off.

I'll investigate further in the meantime.

Kind regards,

Erik

Good morning,

This issue has been resolved in the 6.2 stable release.

Cheers,

Please update this issue when you have more information about which endpoints don't always show the under control banner. It would be helpful to know the specific version of the installed client and the guest operating system(s) of the potentially affected machines.

Also, the ShowSystemTrayIcon app.config setting value shouldn't affect whether or not the under control banner is displayed on the guest machine. We use two app.config settings to configure under control banner behavior (both default to true): SupportShowUnderControlBanner and AccessShowUnderControlBanner.

Hi Ben,

Both UnderControlBanner options are on.

We mostly use Access sessions.

The problem is that it is NOT permanent.

Sometimes the banner shows, sometimes the banner doesn't show.... on the same machine without the machine rebooting.

Have seen the problem with Windows 10 clients will check to see if other OSes are problematic as well.

This happens with the latest version 6.1.11959.6187 and older 6.1 versions

Erik.

Hi Ben, i have the sneaky feeling the problem is solved in version 6.1.12054 of the 20th.

I haven't seen it happen anymore since we installed that yesterday.

Great news.

Hi Ben i'm ever so sorry..... the bug has been re-introduced.... in the latest update. (1219 at the end)

I now have systems that when i take them over no longer show the banner....

Could be that this happens only after updating the systems before a reboot.

Further info :

One system does not show it when i enter it (Windows 2008 R2 Server)

Another system did show it (same os).

I returned to this other system a few minutes later, no body had done anything on the system in the meantime, however now the banner also fails to show.....

Erik.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for following up on this.

I was able to reproduce the behavior you describe in our development environment. I have registered an issue with development, and it's currently under investigation.

Cheers,

Ben
