v19.4 - Shared clipboard not enabled by default

TechCare 1 month ago updated 1 week ago 3

Latest version v19.4 disables shared clipboard by default. At the very least this is an insane bug, because prior to this it was ALWAYS enabled by default. I don't even remember when shared clipboard became a toggle actually, maybe only in this new version.

Connectwise you NEED to make sure that if you bring in new functionality you MUST give an option to customise it, as in give me the option to enable it by default or not if you want to add that as an option. Don't know why anyone would want shared clipboard turned off anyway. But hey.

Hi TechCare,

Apologies for the delay, this was updated recently. https://docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Control_Documentation/Get_started/Host_client/Essentials_menu/Clipboard_sharing_during_a_remote_session

You'll need to download the Advanced Configuration Editor extension, or make sure you have the latest version. The option is under Web Config -> Quick Settings -> Share Clipboard.

Any traction on this Connectwise? I've checked for any option in the configs, but nothing that I can see.

Support directed me to that too.

But it doesn't tell me how to manually add it. Unfortunately another error with my app.config file stopped me from utilising the Advanced Configuration Editor. Replacing the app.config with a fresh template from off your website helped fixed that, then I could find the setting.

If anyone else is interested the setting that gets made (actually stored in web.config for me on Ubuntu install) is:

<add key="DefaultSupportSessionInfoAttributes" value="ShareClipboard,WakeLockAcquired">
</add>
<add key="DefaultAccessSessionInfoAttributes" value="ShareClipboard,WakeLockAcquired">
</add>
Some details can be found here, but the web.config list is not exhaustive unfortunately:

https://docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Control_Documentation/On-premises/Advanced_setup/List_of_web.config_settings

https://docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Control_Documentation/On-premises/Advanced_setup/List_of_app.config_settings

I would highly recommend @Caitlin that an exhaustive list is updated on the web.config and app.config pages. Because not everyone would necessarily utilise the Advanced Configuration Editor extension by default or like me had an issue preventing it.

This can be marked as resolved now. Thank you.
