Windows 10 Desktop App - Crashing

mgohlke 3 years ago updated by Caitlin M Barnes (Product Manager) 1 year ago 6

First off, I would just like to say what a wonderful platform ScreenConnect is. The web interface works wonderfully for what we do in our organization. However, the new Windows 10 desktop application does not work at all, at least for me. The issue I'm experiencing is happening on every surface pro 3 in our organization that has windows 10. The app installs and fires up with no issues after entering the right information. However, when we attempt to connect to client devices, a window opens up that says "negotiating," then the app force-closes.

After looking in the event viewer, this is what I see:

Faulting application name: ScreenConnect.WindowsApp.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x59cbef25
Faulting module name: SharedLibrary.dll, version: 1.4.24201.0, time stamp: 0x574e6d5c

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.NET.Native.Framework.1.3_1.3.24201.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe\SharedLibrary.dll

Faulting package full name: ScreenConnectSoftware.ScreenConnect_6.0.14974.0_x86__zt9sd47jeh90c
Faulting package-relative application ID: App

After reading around on Google for an hour, I haven't found ANY articles that talk about the faulting application name. There are several that talk aobut SharedLibrary.dll, but none of the fixes have worked. I'm reaching out here because there isn't enough information about this app right now, so Google searches are fruitless. Any help would be appreciated.

Good morning,

Thank you for the report, this is currently a known issue under investigation.  Unfortunately I do not have an ETA on when a fix will be found and implemented, but we are working towards it.

Why is this still under review? The ScreenConnect desktop app currently does not work at all. It would be nice to have some kind of update on this.

It was indeed a wonderful app that we had. But since the initial bug alert raisings, the app has now very much become inactive. I don’t think if there is any point in discussing about it further.

How to fix printer spooler error

I don't know if this is the same issue or not but I recently installed the Windows 10 App from the store and it was working fine. Then patch Tuesday came along and now the damn app doesn't work. Everything comes up fine I get the list of hosts etc. but when I click on Join it throws an error code and seems to keep trying to connect????

The error is: Error: Received unrecognized message ID:0x83

Hi Buzzed Darkyear,

We released an update to the Windows App Store yesterday that should address that issue.
