Linux: German keyboard layout does not work

Matthias Henze 3 years ago updated by Scott Linak 3 years ago 7

When I connect from a German localized Linux system with a German localized Linux Client the German keyboard layout does not work and EN-US is used instead. Linux to Windows or Mac works as expected.

Good morning all,

We've been looking into this behavior over the past couple days and discovered that the inability to process special German/Norwegian/etc. characters is an inherent limitation of Java.

As such, I am marking this thread as a known issue while our product management team reviews the functionality.

Good morning,

I was able to replicate this behavior in our test environment and have registered an issue with development.

Cheers,

Ben

Hello,

also when using Windows Host and Linux Guest, some of the keys on a German keyboard are wrong (But it is not the US layout). E.g. when trying to type "+" it is a "0", when trying to type "?" is becomes a "(".

Thanks for working on a solution to this problem,

Isabelle

Is there any resolution on the way? Working with a german keyboard to control a german linux machine is a real pain...

Unfortunately we have not moved forward on the issue but it is still registered.  I have bumped its priority and brought it to PM's attention for re-evaluation.
