specific database maintenance

MerijnB 8 years ago updated by anonymous 6 years ago 11 3 duplicates

We have some unattended machines far abroad with lousy internet connections. The result is that these machines tend to disconnect and reconnect continuously throughout the day.

The many events on the timeline for these machines seems to be the cause for the web interface being unresponsive. When we select one of these machines, a response time of more then 30 seconds or the browser complaining the script is frozen is not unusual.

It is clear that we should severely trim the events in this timeline for these machines. The problem is that we use the timeline (and notes) for most machines for administration purposes, so we can't use the database maintenance option which will remove all old timeline events and notes for all machines. We need to remove specific items (timeline events) for specific machines, it seems this is currently not possible.

Hello,

We'll be introducing an update to the maintenance options in the release of 6.2. The update provides more granular options to choose what data to delete from the database. The update is sure to solve all concerns you have noted. We expect 6.2 to be released in the next couple months, barring any development delays. Keep an eye out on our output stream for product updates:

Yes! We use notes to designate dynamic sessions groups that hook into security roles for users that only need access to a few devices. So, I cannot check Access Sessions box in the database maintenance, or I'll lose all of that configuration. It would probably be nice to be able to check boxes for each maintenance step (e.g. messages, commands, notes, connection information for each type of session.

I can't wait for this! I use notes to keep track of physical labor ie changed a HDD added Ram etc.

When will this be implemented?

Scheduled for later this year, barring any development delays.

This is desperately needed.

Would it be possible to get a date as to when this will be implemented? We are up for renewal and really need this feature.

This problem is getting quite bad for us now, our server takes several minutes to start up due to the growing database. Because of this I've been in touch with support (again) with regards to this; unfortunately (again) no help. Since we don't get any updates from from the people from ScreenConnect / ConnectWise on this request here, I thought I'd share the information I got from them with regards to their planning:

"I checked with the Product Management team this morning and the more granular database maintenace options are scheduled for the 6.2 release. I do not have an ETA for when 6.2 will be available but it is under construction now."

So the good news is that it is scheduled for the next release (6.1 is in release candidate status at time of writing); the bad news is that (as far as I'm concerned) they do not have a great record when it comes to actually doing what they say, let's hope the functionality will be here soon.

Our strategy is hoping that our Screen Connect server doesn't break down during the wait, while we are looking for alternatives to Screen Connect we could switch to if it takes too long or the problems get bigger.

(continue here..) But Connection info is vital since we need to know who was the last person that has used the pc. It also says IDLE time, essential for tracking. Thanks!
