Pop-up message box on client.
It would be nice to have the message box fully displayed when messages are sent. The blinking icon is good, but only gets the users attention half the time.

I think that this is one of those features that shouldn't be ignored if it has only a few votes, anything you can do to make the product better and easier to use is a +1 for the product itself.
I absolutely agree, and can tell you no feature request is ignored.
To expand on this idea there could be an option to darken the screen and disable the keyboard until the user clicks the message box.
maybe have a whistle or chime when the IM is sent?
